We’re moving on today to the third of the four Minor Arcana suits: the Cups. The cups deal with all things emotional-related, including relationships of all kinds.

I would like to divert briefly to explain some do’s and don’t’s about the Cups. It is easy and convenient to think they are always talking about our romantic relationships, but in my experience, the cups are just as often talking about our friendships and familial relationships, such as with parents, children, and siblings.

Love is one of the all time most common subjects people seek help and guidance from tarot on. Naturally, we want answers to how others feel or who we should look forward to meeting. When it comes to the cups and love, the more specific your question, the better answer you will get. And that is obviously true for all readings. A clear question makes an enormous difference.

Asking ‘Who is my soulmate?’ (I hate this question when reading for the public, especially at events because its such an awful question to start with - and we don’t all have soulmates in each lifetime anyway) will usually yield an answer, but it will come off generic and vague.

Here is one place I do like to give a shout out to any decks that include astrological references on the cards, or if you use an astrological cheat sheet for which cards are associated with which zodiac signs. When asking questions about people and relationships, I often take into consideration the sign of the subject in the cards, because more often than not, its referring to the sign of the other person or people in the relationship.

You can find a tarot/zodiac cheat sheet download in my Etsy shop here. And there are likely free versions you can download from some online sources, as well.

So let’s begin with the suit of Cups.

Exercise

Now for the exercise. Sort your cards into Major and Minor Arcana. Set the Majors aside for today.
